New featured presenter: Shawn Rocco photojournalist & multimedia producer of the News & Observer

As we get closer to Ignite Raleigh we’ll be making a few announcements about music, featured speakers, and other entertainment for you. Today we’re excited to announce Shawn Rocco photojournalist and multimedia producer with the News & Observer in Raleigh, North Carolina as a featured presenter.

About Shawn Rocco:
Shawn Rocco, 37, is a staff photojournalist and multimedia producer with the News & Observer in Raleigh, North Carolina. Originally from New York’s Hudson Valley area, he majored in environmental science and minored in photography at SUNY(The State University of New York) Plattsburgh. In 2002, after three years as a commercial photographer and freelance photojournalist, he was hired as chief photographer for the Chapel Hill News and then staff photographer for the News and Observer. He recently won two first place awards and the Best in Show award in the 2008 NCPPA Pictures of the Year contest and Best Feature and Best in Show Award in the 2008 NPPA Best of Photojournalism for his photo story and video on Dwayne Dail; a man recently exonerated after serving 18 years in prison for a crime he didn’t commit.
