This list includes the results of the top 11 presentations (we had a tie!) voted on by the public plus 4 additional wild-card presentations that we chose within the team. The co-organizers of Ignite Raleigh, Wayne, Jeff, Kipp and myself want to congratulate all of the selected speakers. Are you ready for Ignite Raleigh 2? Ignite Raleigh 2 will be held on Wednesday, March 3, Lincoln Theatre, Raleigh, NC 7-9pm. Last year over 500 attendees joined the Triangle community as the first Ignite event was held in North Carolina. This year we’re a part of Global Ignite Week as we join 60+ cities around the world hosting Ignite events. More on Global Ignite Week can be found here: http://ignite.oreilly.com/

Today we’re pleased to announce the presentation submissions for Ignite Raleigh 2. Do you have what it takes to stand in-front of hundreds people and share your ideas with the community? If so starting today, you can submit your presentation ideas for Ignite Raleigh 2. As the ideas are submitted, you can vote up to 10 times on other Ignite talks that you would like to see. We’re planning to have 15 presentations. The top 10 presentation ideas selected by the community will present at Ignite Raleigh 2. Five will be chosen from the organizing committee.

To submit your Ignite Raleigh presentation topic go to http://voting.igniteraleigh.com and log in to the site. Enter your topic or presentation title in the box below “I would like to speak on ……” Click the button that says “create a new idea” to launch a pop-up window where you can add more detailed information about your talk. Also please consider adding a link to a short video pitch of your talk (under 1 minute), so the community can get a better sense of your presentation style.

As presentation talks start to roll in you have up to 10 votes to vote on the topics you would like to see at Ignite Raleigh 2. We recommend visiting http://voting.igniteraleigh.com/ often in the next couple of weeks to review submitted topics and vote for your favorites. After submitting your own topic, encourage your friends and followers to vote for your presentation.

We want everyone to focus on Ignite presentations that teach something and have social value, but are open and creative. The presentation submissions and voting deadline will be February 17, 2010 with the top 10 vote getters speaking to the community.

Thanks again to all the presenters at Ignite Raleigh for subjecting themselves to the harsh conditions of the Ignite requirements. 5 minutes. 20 slides. And autoadvancing slides every 15 seconds. And if you go over time in Raleigh, you get RickRolled. We only had one presenter get RickRolled, but there were rumors that it was intentional, since no one went over all night and Zach wanted to dance.

There were some great ideas shared and we hope that you were inspired by them. Some of things we are thinking about are nap time at work, building a business with Lego, giant acorns, stick figures, rollergirls, WWJT? and why anyone would put mayonnaise in barbecue. Seriously, if you were inspired to action last night, below are the list of speakers and their presentation topics. We have included their Twitter IDs so you can follow them, and follow up with them if something they said struck a chord with you.

Directions
The Lincoln Theatre is located in downtown Raleigh at 126 E. Cabarrus St. between Wilmington St. and Blount St.

Coming from I-40 Take exit 299 (Person St./ Hammond St.). Turn onto Person St. towards downtown. Go 1.5 miles and turn left onto Cabarrus St. The Lincoln will be 2 blocks on your left.

Coming from North Raleigh on Capital Blvd./Glenwood Ave Follow into downtown and turn left onto Morgan St. then turn right on Blount St. Go 4 blocks and turn right onto Cabarrus and the Lincoln is on the left.

Coming from West Raleigh/NCSU Take Western Blvd. into downtown and turn left onto Wilmington St. Go 3 blocks and turn right onto Cabarrus St. and the Lincoln is on the right.

Parking
There is FREE Parking in the parking deck across the street from 7PM-7AM.

Attire
People have asked, so we included this one. Wear what you would wear going out with friends for a casual evening, although you never know who you might meet.

Doors Open at 6pm
See seating below to know why you may want to get to the Lincoln Theatre early for our 7pm start time.

Check In
Please bring your eventbrite printout showing your registration. Lincoln Theatre staff will be checking IDs at the door, so please have yours ready to speed the process of entry.

Seating
As this is a rock club and their capacity is based on standing, not sitting, we will have limited seating. There will be approximately 100 seats on the floor and about 75 barstools along the rail on the second level. Note that we have over 500 hundred people registered. As this is a fun, community event, the free-flowing environment of the audience provides a great opportunity to meet those around you.

Event Details
There will be 15 entertaining and informative presentations, along with music by Rhett and Link and DJ Rousseau. The evening will be MC’d by Zach Ward of DSI Comedy Theater in Carrboro.

Door Prizes
There will be a handful of door prizes given away during the event. They will be drawn from the entries on July 29 and you must be present to win. See this post for details. Rafe Colburn is Director of Technology at Web agency Hesketh.com, where he manages a development team that builds Web applications and content management solutions in Ruby on Rails, PHP, and Java. He’s also worked at a number of other Raleigh technology companies, including Interpath, TogetherSoft, and Alerts.com. Rafe is the author of several computer books on HTML, Perl programming, Web publishing, and CGI programming, including “Special Edition Using SQL,” and “Sams Teach Yourself Web Publishing with HTML and CSS in One Hour a Day”, and is a member of the blogging old guard. His blog, rc3.org, has been around since 1998.

About Shawn Rocco:
Shawn Rocco, 37, is a staff photojournalist and multimedia producer with the News & Observer in Raleigh, North Carolina. Originally from New York’s Hudson Valley area, he majored in environmental science and minored in photography at SUNY(The State University of New York) Plattsburgh. In 2002, after three years as a commercial photographer and freelance photojournalist, he was hired as chief photographer for the Chapel Hill News and then staff photographer for the News and Observer. He recently won two first place awards and the Best in Show award in the 2008 NCPPA Pictures of the Year contest and Best Feature and Best in Show Award in the 2008 NPPA Best of Photojournalism for his photo story and video on Dwayne Dail; a man recently exonerated after serving 18 years in prison for a crime he didn’t commit.

Last week the presentation pitches and voting kicked off for Ignite Raleigh. Since then, 32 presentations, 308 voters, and 1215 votes have been made and we’re excited to see the winning submissions. The top 10 presentations will have the opportunity to present at Ignite Raleigh. Here’s a list of the current top 10 Ignite Raleigh topics.

After opening the voting, we disabled anonymous voting to help even the playing filed for all suggested topics. Voting ends at 11:59pm ET on July 20, which is plenty of time for some of the lower ranked topics to gain momentum. Here are 9 ways to promote your Ignite Presentation before voting ends.

1. Blog about your topic asking for votes and feedback.
2. Email or DM your friends and family asking for votes.
